Dinan Nov 11 Friday

Lovely ,fairly warm day. Marni and I furiously painted the last few days ( not) we had to drive to Rennes to this big well supplied art store for more pigments and brushes.I got myself some Senelier watercolor and a bigger brush. We took the scenic route to get to Rennes, passing fields ,meadows , farms and tiny little villages.
I worked on this abstract after a nice glass of white wine. It's got a ways to go but I wanted to capture the feeling of the grand view.

Above is a photo of the entrance into the Chateau de Hac in La Quiou , just South of Dinan.

Here finally in Rennes and about to eat my first French crepe with butter and salted caramel. I wanted to eat at least 3 more.

Double rainbow.

This painting above was created after our road trip to Cape Frehal yesterday.
The tide was out and the mud flats were exposed.  The double rainbow was magnificent to see this evening.

This abstract is from the English Garden in the historic section of the city.

Artist in Residence Dinan France Nov 12 Sat

Ten days have flown by for us here in Dinan. My paintings are starting to loosen up, but maybe too much!  It's hard not to overwork a painting as it's so quiet and peaceful here in the studio. Rain again today, but the town is bustling. Even Moms and Dads with their baby carriages draped in Rain gear strolling through the streets.

Everybody's out walking. We dropped a few loads of laundry at the launderette where they will wash and dry our bundles of dirty laundry . It will be nice to have fresh sheets and clothes to wear.

Starting to get used to the rain here.

We are at the Cafe Noir for our wifi and cafe au lait fix.

Gallery One Bus Trip May 8

I am excited to tell my friends that Gallery One is planning a fun and informative bus trip on May 8 to the Brandywine River Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, Pa. . Included in our tour is wonderful video narrated by Andrew Wyeth as he discusses his Brandywine landscapes, introduces us to his friends and subjects with family movies and interviews.  Wyeths talks about how he develops ideas over his life time.
The museum is home to the paintings of Andrew Wyeth, his father N.C. Wyeth, and son Jamie Wyeth.  The trip includes a private guided tour of the museum’s collection and its current exhibits, “From Homer to Hopper, Experiment and Ingenuity in American Art” and “New Terrains.”
Following the tour, participants will have ample opportunity to view the full collection of paintings.  Lunch is available in the museum cafĂ© or you may want to pack a lunch to enjoy outdoors in the beautiful surroundings.
Travel to and from the museum will be in a deluxe touring bus with amenities for your travel comfort.  Snacks and water will be provided. The approximate time of departure will be 8:30am, returning at 5pm.  There will be two pickup/drop-off sites; one in the Ocean View/Bethany area and the other in the Lewes/Rehoboth area.
The cost of the trip, which includes travel and admission to the museum and special exhibits, is $58, due at the time of your reservation.  As a previous participant you have been given advance notice of the trip.  Since space is limited, we urge you to make your reservation as soon as possible before the trip is advertised to the general public.
